Airing at 9pm Saturdays beginning March 30 on KGLP, 91.7, 12th STREET JUMP pays homage to the great era of Kansas City jazz. It's an urban, jazz and blues-inflected "Saturday Night Live"-- celebrating the legends of jazz while we poke fun at today's headline makers. · Celebrations of the birthday of an important jazz or blues artist by playing his/her music live. · Information about the artist allowing listeners to learn more about the artist's roots and influence on today's musicians. · Topical sketch comedy features "Blues in the News," "Serena's School for Scat," "Sax Therapist" and others send up politicians and celebrities in the news. · Special guest appearances by nationally-recognized jazz artists who are passing through or work in KC. like Karrin Allyson, Eldar, Bobby Watson (pictured with the cast above), Harry Allen, Sean Jones. · A rundown of the week's jazz CD releases. · A calendar of live jazz around the country. · One of the last remaining live jazz shows on public radio, 12th Street Jump features 52 weekly one hour programs plus "Best of" shows. |
