Airing at 9pm Saturdays beginning March 30 on KGLP, 91.7, 12th STREET JUMP pays homage to the great era of Kansas City jazz. It's an urban, jazz and blues-inflected "Saturday Night Live"-- celebrating the legends of jazz while we poke fun at today's headline makers.

Each week, live from Kansas City, where Basie tickled the ivories and Dizzy met the Bird, 12th Street Jump celebrates the artists who made Jazz and Blues the quintessential American art form. A talented cast of actors and musicians keep the music alive in a rapid-fire program of topical sketch comedy, jazz and the blues.

Hosted by improv comedians Pete Weber and Pearl McDonald, the fast-paced program interweaves :

Celebrations of the birthday of an important jazz or blues artist by playing his/her music live.

Information about the artist allowing listeners to learn more about the artist's roots and influence on today's musicians.

Topical sketch comedy features "Blues in the News," "Serena's School for Scat," "Sax Therapist" and others send up politicians and celebrities in the news.

Special guest appearances by nationally-recognized jazz artists who are passing through or work in KC. like Karrin Allyson, Eldar, Bobby Watson (pictured with the cast above), Harry Allen, Sean Jones.
